Featuring fellow string faculty at CMU, November 9th’s recital will include the premier of new works by Eric Law and a celebration of Shostakovich’s life to mark the 50th anniversary of his death. Known for his eclectic vision, pop-art minimalism, and unusually modern approach to violoncello technique and interpretation, Law’s performance promises to span the gap from a deep commitment to classical style to tongue in cheek pretension running parallel to modern ideas fueled by American dance music and its influences across the world.
